October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer accounts globally for 1.38 million cases and 458,400 deaths. Great strides have been made between screening and treatment advances to reduce the risk of death from breast cancer. However, health care disparities still exist. The face of breast cancer should represent all women. Young women, and women of color tend to present with more aggressive breast cancer. The disease itself can have a huge impact on how women perceive their image and sexuality. We would like to honor breast cancer survivors by acknowledging their journey and the impact such a diagnosis can have on their self-image. Kicked it in Heels encourages women celebrate their femininity and style while bringing awareness to breast cancer.
